Noro yarns from Japan are known
worldwide for their vibrant colour combinations and their use of
luxurious fibres such as mohair/silk, silk/ cashmere, pure wool
and silk/wool.
They are the creation of Japanese artist Eisaku Noro, who studied
painting in Paris and draws his inspiration from nature. His aim
is to make unique and beautiful yarns which appeal not only to Japanese
knitters, but cross national boundaries to inspire knitters and
textile artists from cultures around the world.
Many of the processes involved are still done by hand, with some
colour combinations the result of years of planning and yarns dipped
in in dozens of different dye baths to achieve their fabulous colour
combinations.
Noro's multicoloured yarns fall into stripes as you knit, with the
stripes changing throughout the entire ball. These combinations
change each season and are rarely repeated.
